In December we went together with opa Gijs and the Aarsen family to the selection speedskating races for Winter Olympics in Vancouver. In Holland there are some many good skaters that they keep organizing tournaments till the bitter end. It was spectaculair to see them in real. Man, that goes fast. Amazing!
And emotional to see the tears from Erben when he failed.
The girls where exited to talk to some of the skaters and get there signatures.
Good luck all in Vancouver!
The last day of school this year, Holland looked like Tübingen in winter. All white. Time to get the ‘Schlitten’ and off to school. That was fun.
The next day it was even better. Vacation time and more snow.
In our backyard Inger, Nienke and Inger’s friend Carlijn started to make giant snowballs, which made a sturdy base for the ‘iglo’. When it started to get dark we also built a small ’swedish snowball pyramid’.
Watch the pictures for the result!
Onze eerste winter terug in NL en meteen schaatsen! Geschaatst op het Veluwemeer en natuurlijk ook voor de deur op de Westeinder. Foto’s.
In September was het dan eindelijk zover. Oma en Opa’s huis is klaar. Het is erg mooi geworden. Hier vast een paar foto’s. Goeie foto’s van buiten volgen binnenkort.
It looks like we are going to move out of Tübingen and back to our home country. As of this summer we have planned to move back to the Netherlands. On the one hand a pity to leave this beautiful area of Baden-Würtemberg on the other hand we look forward to find a nice new place in the Netherlands and have a chance to see the family more often. After almost 10 years of living abroad it must be interesting to experience the changes first hand. The move is exciting in many ways since Cees is going to start a new office of frog design in Amsterdam and Anne is likely going to pick up her architecture practice with the same group of people she worked with in the past. For the kids it will be a challenge, the school program in Germany ends by the end of July, while the new school year in the NL starts as early as mid-august. So very little time for moving and almost none for a summer break is on the horizon. Now we first need to put the house for sale and find a new place in the NL, probably somewhere south of the city of Amsterdam.
Already April and still snow. Not a reason to stay indoors.
Of course we have to keep up with some geocacher friends. So we went out in cold and winterly weather. Yep, we got a “five star first to find”, after serious research work and hit the 200-caches mark.
Also a peak from the ‘Osterhase-theater’ from Inger, Sally and Anna. Inger, Nienke Anna, Anouk and Laura organized a jumping race, which was a lot of fun!
Here some pictures of March.
